Animal Assisted therapy (AAT) involves the use of animals in formal therapy sessions. The presence of a friendly animal helps to
ease the client’s anxiety. To name a few benefits, this involvement can also improve social interactions and decrease aggressive behaviors.
At Manav Rehabilitation Centre, the Animal Angels Foundation conducts AAT. Our one-year-old cat, “Simba” is
specially trained by Animal Angels Foundation to work with the clients. Simba acts like a co-therapist in individual and group
session with the clients. People with mental illnesses and emotional problems tend to have an inward focus. Having Simba around helps them refocus
themselves on their environment.

Animal Angels Foundation was started by Rohini Fernandes and Radhika Nair in 2005 to provide
animal-assisted therapy services to people with psychiatric disorders, behavioural/emotional problems, developmental disorders, physical
disabilities and physical illnesses.
They use specially trained dogs and cats to help adults and children learn new skills, speed up their recovery process and cope with life's day-to-
